Abstract Objective Purpose: The aim of this study is to probe into the clinical characteristics of severe complications of prematurely delivered twins. Method The clinical data of 56 cases of prematurely delivered twins for one year in our hospital were summarized, and compared with 168 cases of singleton preterm infants of the same period on the morbidity of respiratory distress syndrome(RDS),apnea, asphyxia intracranial hemorrhage. Results The morbidity rate of twin premature infants with apnea is significantly higher than singleton preterm infants of the same gestational age(P<0.05), while there are no significant differences on the morbidity rates of RDS and asphyxia(P>0.05). Conclusions The weight of twins combined with preterm delivery is significantly lower than singleton preterm infants of the same gestational age, while the morbidity rate of apnea is higher. Therefore, this factor should be treated positively in clinical practice to improve the living quality of neonates.
