Abstract: 【Abstract】Objectives This study was designed to analyze the clinical and imaging characteristics of neonatal hypoxic ischemic brain damage(HIBD)after major cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Methods Clinical data of nineteen infants after major cardiopulmonary resuscitation and hypoxic ischemic brain damage confirmed by MRI in Shengjing hospital were anylyzed from 2004 to 2012 to understand the clinical and imaging characteristics. Results The infants of HIBD usually accompanied by multiple organ involements. The circulatory system was affected most frequently, followed by respiratory, urinary and digestive system injuries.Abnormal muscle tone, consciousness abnormalities, abnormal reflex and convulsion were seen in HIBD.The incidence of apnea Was obviously rare. The types of brain injury are multiple, including white matter injury95% (18119),basal ganglia-thalamus injury 90%(17/19)and brain stem injury 63%(12/19).94.7%of patients had more than two types of mixed injury. Conclusion Detailed perinatal history and clinical nervous system observation are particularly important for the diagnosis of HIBD.The patients always have multiple organ involvements. The most common injury site is white matter, followed by basal ganglia—thalamus, and mixed injury is common.
