Study on the anti-müllerian hormone and sex hormone levels in children with hypospadias

Abstract: 【Abstract】 Objective To evaluate the levels of serum anti-müllerian hormone (AMH) and sex hormone
in children with hypospadias, and to explore the relationship between the severity of hypospadias and
the levels of AMH and sex hormone. Method A total of 58 children with hypospadias admitted to
Children's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from June 2017 to June 2021 were included in
the hypospadias group, and 58 children who underwent circumcision were included in the control group.
The clinical data of the two groups were collected. The levels of serum dihydrotestosterone, sex hormone
and AMH were detected. Analysis of variance and t test were used for statistical analysis. Result Among the
58 children with hypospadias, 9 cases were type Ⅰ, 21 cases were type Ⅱ, 16 cases were type Ⅲ, and 12 cases were type Ⅳ. The total level of dihydrotestosterone in hypospadias group was lower than that in control
group [(42±10) vs (65±13) ng/L, t=10.648, P<0.05]. The total level of luteinizing hormone in hypospadias
group and control group were [(0.49±0.21) vs (0.82±0.40) IU/L, t=5.563, P<0.01] respectively, the level of
follicle stimulating hormone was [(1.20±0.80) vs (1.71±0.36) IU/L, t=4.427, P<0.01] respectively, level of
testosterone was [(15.5±5.8) vs (57.3±8.3) nmol/L, t=31.605, P<0.01] respectively; the above indexes in
hypospadias group were lower than those in control group, and the differences were statistically signi?cant.
The total level of AMH in hypospadias group and control group was [(121.8±12.4) vs (64.4±2.2) ng/L,t=34.685, P<0.01] respectively, and the difference was statistically signi?cant. The level of AMH in children
with type Ⅰ and type Ⅱ hypospadias was lower than that of children with type Ⅳ, and the differences were
statistically signi?cant (t=2.795, 2.243, both P<0.05). Conclusion Children with hypospadias may have
insuf?cient testosterone secretion, and AMH can play a role in the pathogenesis of hypospadias by inhibiting
the synthesis of testosterone.
