Abstract 【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the application effect of surgical field dilator in retroperitoneal
space endoscopic surgery in children. Method A total of 60 children aged 6 months to 14 years who
were admitted to the Department of Thoracic and Tumor Surgery in the Children's Hospital Affiliated to
Capital Institute of Pediatrics from January 2020 to December 2021 were selected for retroperitoneal space
laparoscopic surgery for renal tumor or adrenal tumor. Among them, 30 children hospitalized from January
to December 2020 were selected as the control group. Traditional self-made water bags were used to expandthe retroperitoneal space. The experimental group of 30 children hospitalized from January to December 2021were treated with disposable surgical field dilators. The time of cavity construction, complications, bloodloss and operator satisfaction were compared between the two groups. t-test, χ2 test or rank sum test wereused for statistical analysis. Result The time of retroperitoneal space building in the experimental groupwas shorter than that in the control group [(2.3±0.5) vs (18.8±4.5) min, t=20.117, P=0.001]. The amountof blood loss of cavity construction operation in the experimental cavity was less than that in the controlgroup [(5.5±3.6) vs (8.7±7.9) ml, t=2.039, P<0.05]. In the experimental group, the satisfaction of cavityconstruction was excellent. In the control group, excellent 43.3% (13/30), good 40.0% (12/30), poor 16.7%(5/30), the difference was statistically significant (Z=4.774, P<0.05). In the experimental group, the successrate of one-time cavity construction was 100%, and no balloon rupture was observed. In the control group,1 patient was reconstructed twice, and 1 patient had balloon rupture. Conclusion Disposable surgicalfield dilator is an effective method for retroperitoneal space endoscopic surgery in children compared withtraditional methods, which has shorter time, less blood loss and less related complications.
