Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of laparoscopic high ligation of pediatric inguinal hernia in elder children. Method A total of 7466 patients aged from 0 to 15 years old with inguinal hernia from January 2010 to January 2014 in our hospital were collected. The patients were divided into a study group(from 5 to 15 years old) and a control group (from 0 to 5 years old). All patients had received laparoscopic high ligation of pediatric inguinal hernias, and the clinical outcomes between the two groups were compared. Results There are no statistical differences in the operating time, hospital time and recurrence rate between the two groups. Conclusions Laparoscopic high ligation of pediatric inguinal hernia in elder children have good clinical outcomes which are identical to that of younger children
