Abstract Objective To compare the clinical effect and safety of conventional and transumbilical single-port laparoscopic pyeloplasty for the treatment of hydronephrosis(UPJO)in children. Method 112 children with hydronephrosis between January 2014 and November 2015 were collected to clinical research. Conventional laparoscopic pyeloplasty was applied in 52 cases(GroupA),and transumbilical single-port laparoscopic pyeloplasty was applied in 60 cases(GroupB).The operative time, intraoperative blood lost, duration of the urethral catheter time, the postoperative hospital stay and the postoperative result were compared between the 2 groups. Results All operations were successful without conversion to open surgery. There were no significant diferences in the operative time, the intraoperative blood lost and the postoperative hospital stay between two groups. Conclusions Conventional and transumbilical single-portlaparoscopic pyeloplastyin treatment of hydronephrosis in children are safe and feasible, but transumbilical single-port laparoscopic pyeloplasty has more operating space and better cosmetic effect.
