Abstract 【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the physical development and nutritional status of children aged 0-5 years, and analyze the eating behavior status of overweight and obese children in Baoding city. Method Using random cluster sampling method, a total of 4 319 children aged 0-5 years who underwent physical examination in maternal and child health institutions from January 2019 to December 2022 in Baoding city were selected as the research objects, and they were divided into 12 age groups of 0 month (at birth), 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 8 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2 years, 2.5 years, 3 years, 4 years and 5 years. Height and weight were measured, and compared with the results of "A national survey on physical growth and development of children under seven years of age in nine cities of China in 2015" (hereinafter referred to as "nine cities of China"), to evaluate the growth retardation rate, underweight rate, overweight rate and obesity rate of children. Chinese preschoolers' eating behavior questionnaire (CPEBQ) was used to evaluate the eating behaviors of obese and overweight children aged 3-5 years who were matched 1∶1 with normal children.Statistical method performed by t-test. Result In all groups aged 0-5 years, the height and weight of boys were higher than that of girls except the height of 6 months, 2 years and 3 years, and the weight of 12 months,2.5 years and 4 years, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). The weight and height of boys and girls aged 0-5 years in Baoding city were consistent with the standard of "nine cities of China", and the growth trend was consistent. Among the 4 319 children aged 0-5 years, 59 (1.37%) children were growth retardation, 49 (1.13%) children were underweight, 287 (6.64%) children were overweight, and 164 (3.80%)
children were obesity, overweight and obesity were found in all age groups. The CPEBQ scores of overweight and obese children aged 3-5 years were lower than those of normal children in picky eating, bad eating habits, oversatiety response and external eating, and higher than those of normal children in food response and active eating, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). Conclusion The physical development of children aged 0-5 years in Baoding city is good, the proportion of malnutrition is low, but the rate of overweight and obesity is high, which is related to the poor diet behavior of children, and should be paid more attention.
