Abstract: 【Abstract】Objective The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between excitatory substances and tic disorders (TD) Method The case - control study was conducted . 44 children with TD and 44 normal children were implemented laboratory check about excitatory substances in the urine. The urina sanguinis from the TD patients and healthy children were collected. The urine samples were sent to the doping control center of State Physical Cultural Administration and detected with the Gas Chromatograph- Mass Spectrometer(GC/MS)and Liquid Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (LC/MS) produced by the gilent Company in America. Substances detected were sorted into 10 groups: anabolic agents, some of the hormones and related substances, β2-agonists, hormone antagonists and modulators, diuretics and other masking agents, stimulants, narcotics, cannabinoids, glucocorticosteroids, including more than 100 substances and some other substances with similar chemcial constitution or similar biological effects. Results The positive rate in experiment group was 7%, while it was negative in the control group. The level of the anabolic agents testosterone increased in one extremely severe TD patient according to the YGTSS, while cathine and other substances with a similar chemical constitution or similar biological effects increased in the other two severe TD patients. Conclusions Abnormal sex hormones and ephedrine stimulants increase maybe play a part in the mechanism of TD. The positive rate of excitatory substances in urine from children with TD is low.
