Abstract: 【Abstract】 Objective To search relevant evidence both domestically and internationally on the assessment and management of gastric residuals in premature infants, and summarize the best evidence. Method Evidencebased nursing method was used to systematically search all the evidence from computer decision support systems, guideline websites, official websites of relevant nutrition societies, and various databases on the assessment and management of gastric residuals in preterm infants. The evidence retrieved included clinical decisions, guidelines, expert consensuses, evidence summaries, and systematic reviews. The search period spanned from the inception of the databases up to March 31, 2024. The quality of the included literatures was evaluated by two researchers who had systematically learned the evidence-based method, and evidence was extracted and integrated for the literatures that met the quality standards. Result A total of 6 literatures were included: 1 clinical decisions, 1 expert consensus, 1 evidence summary, and 3 guidelines. From these, the 13 best evidences were summarized from four aspects: the assessment timing of gastric residuals, suction methods of gastric residuals, and the assessment of gastric residuals color and volume. Conclusion This study provides an evidence-based foundation for assessing and managing of gastric residuals in preterm infants, and recommends that healthcare providers consider the specific clinical context when applying the evidence, selectively adopting the best evidence to facilitate the timely establishment of enteral feeding.
