Abstract: 【Abstract】Urinary tract infection (UTI) are pervasive infectious diseases found in both community and hospital settings. Although the American Academy of Pediatrics has developed guidelines for the assessment, treatment, and management of UTI, the diagnosis and management of UTI remain challenging for clinicians. However, if treatment is delayed, UTI can spread along the ureters to the kidneys and even enter thebloodstream, ultimately leading to sepsis, kidney damage, and even death. Therefore, ensuring the accuracy ofdiagnosis and the timeliness of treatment is crucial. Although urine culture is the gold standard for diagnosingUTI, it is time-consuming. In recent years, research on biomarkers for UTI has received widespread attention, such as leukocyte count, leukocyte esterase, neutrophil gelatinase-related lipocalin, urinary myeloperoxidase to creatinine ratio, etc. This review will explore the application value of different biomarkers in the diagnosis of UTI, aiming to promote early diagnosis and treatment and reduce the occurrence of adverse outcomes.
