Abstract: Objective To study the technique and clinical efficacy on laparoscopic heminephrectomy for pediatric duplex kidney using transumbilical single-port laparoscopic. Method Laparoscopic performed from Jan. 2012 to Feb. 2016 were retrospectively analyzed using single-port laparoscopic approach in 30 patients. The duplex kidneys were all on the upper kidney pole. 12 cases were on the left side, 18 cases on the right side. 10 cases were male and 20 cases were female. The average age was 32 months, ranging from 6 to 60 months. All the cases were preoperatively diagnosed by ultrasonography and MRU. The upper kidney was affirmed non-functioning moiety without developing an image by IVP. Tri-port drivepipe were placed into enterocoelia through the umbilical region which were the entrance of the operations by incision method. The operation progress was duplex kidney and ureter excision. Results All the operations were completed successfully without conversion into open surgery. The unilateral operation time was (92±20) minutes, blood loss was (15±5.1) ml, postoperative hospital stay was (7.2±1.3) days. No intraoperative or postoperative complication was found. Loss of renal function or atrophy was not found in all patients by postoperative follow-up ranging from 1 to 3 months by ultrasonography and 99mTc-DTPA scintigraphy. The lower kidneys were developed well and symptoms were all improved. Conclusions Single-port laparoscopic surgeries were feasible, minimally invasive surgery and few complication, easily taking out samples and effective approaches for duplex kidney.
